Match Report Okehampton ladies’2 ………..6 Sidmouth and Ottery 4………………….0 Okehampton ladies’ seconds were on winning form this Saturday with a convincing win over Sidmouth and Ottery 4. The home side lacked the final touch and composure in front of goal during the first half. With the whole team playing higher up the pitch, and mostly all the play being in the opponents 25, we became very dominant. In the few occasions that the ball slipped through the forwards, defenders Debbie Pritchard, Sandy Douglas, Rachel Adams and Anna Luxton were there to send the ball back up the pitch. We were soon awarded several attacking short corners but despite strikes from Captain Emma Wiseman and Alex Collins they were unable to get past the goalkeeper. Neat passes between midfielders Anna Speak and Viv Weatherington kept the ball in the opponents 25. The score at half time was 0-0. Team Captain Emma Wiseman rallied the troops at half time with positive encouragement and useful tactics, we started the second half in high spirits. Our positivity awarded us with an attacking short corner in which Emma Wiseman scored from. Wide players Zoe Curtis and Ellie Shayler took balls up the sides of the pitch passing onto forwards Alex Collins and Tilly Dixon. Alex Collins slotted the ball into the goal. Another goal soon after from Viv Weatherington saw Oke 3-0 up. Soon after, tackles were made and Oke continued up the pitch were Alex Collins was waiting to slot the ball into the goal bringing us to a score of 4-0. Unfortunately, Sidmouth and Ottery found a hole in Oke’s defence. Their few shots on goal were saved by goalkeeper Lucy Wiseman who until this point in the match hadn’t touched the ball. A quick ball was taken by Anna Luxton resulting in Zoe Curtis running the ball down the pitch and into Alex Collins who scored her third goal. Lots of quick and precise passing saw Okehampton’s player of the match Ellie Shayler secure the final goal resulting in a 6-0 win. No match next weekend but Okehampton ladies’ seconds return to play away to Exe 4 the following week. Written by Anna Luxton
