Match Report | The game started with good possession from Okehampton 2nds. Nicky Stoneman, in midfield feeding the ball out to Ellie Shayler and Viv Weatherington to make the link with attacking forwards Emma Wiseman and Alex Collins. But ISCA's defence were not relinquishing control in their circle preventing the forwards getting anywhere near the goal. ISCA were strong on the wing attack, taking the ball down the side lines forcing Zoe Curtis, Anna Luxton and Debbie Pritchard to work hard to defend their many attempts at bringing the ball forward to score. Fellow players from mid field, Louise Weller, Jess Medland and Tilly Dixon had to move wide to support, exposing the centre pitch. It wasn't long before ISCA took advantage, they soon had the upper hand and scored two goals before half time. Okehampton had to fight for possession in the second half but a goal was soon in sight. A long ball from Jess Medland, player of the match, to forward Emma Wiseman, who took a great shot on goal. The score now being 2-1 to ISCA meant Okehampton still had to work hard. ISCA kept up good possession with Okehampton trying to win the ball back, but it wasn't enough. ISCA put the team under pressure with the defence players Nicky Stoneman and Sandy Douglas forced wide on many occasions leaving goalie Lucy Wiseman unsupported hence scored three more goals. ISCA were the better team but Okey put up a good fight. Ending the game at 5-1 to ISCA. Okehampton 2 have a break over the festive season and resume their league fixture away against Sidmouth & Ottery 3 on the 9th of January. Written by Jess Medland |
