Okehampton Ladies 3rd team 0 Mannamead 2nd team 0

Oke Ladies 3rd team travelled to Plymouth on Saturday morning to play Mannamead 2nd team in a middle of the table clash with just one point separating the teams.

At the start of the game Oke took their time adjusting to the pitch which was still hard from the earlier frost. As Oke became accustomed to the pace of the game and the speed of the ball they used it to their advantage. Larissa Goodger and Oke's Player of the Match Emily Rowlands spread the ball from the midfield giving the Oke forwards the opportunity to attack the oppositions goal. The experienced Mannamead defenders were forced to use their skill and experience to protect their goal.

Just before half time Mannamead stepped up their game pressurising the Oke players. Oke's Centre Back Joey Drake, in her first game back after injury, organised her defence well but they still conceded several penalty corners. Luckily Oke's goalie Daisy Morgan made several crucial saves to keep her side in the game.

Mannamead were still in a dominant mood as they began the second half with defenders Lois Rowlands and Rochelle Woollacott marking tightly and tackling hard to gain possession. The Oke team grew in confidence with Maddie Arden using her speed and 3D skills to penetrate the Mannamead defence. Despite intense Oke pressure during the last ten minutes they were unable to find the back of the Mannamead net.

Oke 3rd team are at home next Sat at 2pm against Penzance.
