Match Report | Okehampton 2nds V Ashmoor (played home at Okehampton) With Ashmoor only one point ahead of Okehampton 2nds in the league table it was Okehampton’s mission to win this match to secure three points. A lively start saw Okehampton taking a shot at goal and although this was saved by the Ashmoor goal keeper Louise Weller quickly got her stick to the ball and slipped it to Alex Collins who had an open goal to put Okehampton 1-0 ahead in the first five minutes of the game. Ashmoor were a bit taken aback and were determined not to let that happen again. Okehampton started to struggle to make headway and although Molly Marvin and Tilly Dixon worked hard in mid-field but Ashmoor pressed into the circle, taking defence players Sandy Douglas, Hannah Hawes and Rachel Adams off guard and managed to score a goal bringing the score to 1-1 at half time. During the second half of the game there was considerable effort from both sides to score again and although both teams had chances with many short corners neither side could find that backboard. Rochelle Woolacott gave some solid defending on the left and Anna Speak together with Emma Wiseman (Captain) made some good runs down the right hand side, but further goals remained elusive. Final score was 1-1 giving both teams one point each in the league. Player of the match; Hannah Hawes. Next week Okehampton 2nds play at home against Exe 4ths. Report compiled by Alex Collins.
