Match Report | Okehampton Ladies 3rd team 2 Caradon Ladies 3rd team 0
Oke Ladies 3rd team began their league games on Saturday when they hosted Caradon 3rd team. Initially the game was evenly matched with strong attacking moves from both teams providing end to end hockey. Oke’s defence, organised by centre back Joey Drake, marked tightly cutting out any goal scoring attempts. Oke worked well as a team moving off the ball into spaces to pick up well placed passes. Their first goal of the match came when forward Sophie Tripp picked up a pass just inside the Caradon half and attacked at pace. As she came to the top of the Caraden circle she crossed the ball to Sarah Bazeley who swiftly passed the ball onto Louise Watts waiting in perfect position to slot the ball past the keeper. Caradon responded by fighting back but constant pressure from Oke midfielders Sarah Marvin and Melissa Pinfield soon gave Oke the advantage again. Oke played with more confidence in the second half with some penetrating attacking runs from Zoe Curtis on the left wing. Oke’s second goal was a team effort with left back Anna Luxton making a fantastic tackle at the half way line to gain possession. A pass across the pitch to right wing Ellie Shayler spread the Caradon defence leaving space in front of goal for Man of the Match Louise Watts to connect with Ellie’s cross and find the back of the net. Strong tackling from Oke’s right back Lois Rowlands cut out Caradon’s counter attack leaving Daisy Morgan in goal not touching the ball all match! Oke’s 3rd team continue their league games next week playing away to Plymouth Marjons 4th team. |
