Match Report

Okehampton 0-3 Duchy And so the second half of the season began with a trip to Camborne to face a strong Duchy side with a change of fortune needed for the travelling side. The season's poor first half seemed to have been put behind them as the Oke team started strongly. The return to fitness of Simon Bourne brought a period of early supremacy as Oke created pressure in the opposition half. The other backs, John Jarvis and Caleb Bourne, we're starting to create their own legacy as they comfortably dealt with any attacking threat. Jake and Toby Lloyd and Neil Rowlands controlled the centre thwarting any quick build up play for the home side and began to create attacking chances of their own. 0-0 at half-time was a far reflection of the balance of play and Okehampton were confident of a winning start to part two of the season. This first half confidence continued in the early stages of the second half until a series of Duchy short corners resulting from some sustained pressure eventually resulted in a scrappy goal sneaking in. Oke battled back well with Chris Luxton hitting the post and Angus Cunningham steering just wide. Duchy continued to press forward with their second goal disallowed following an Ebby Vallance sabe going in off a couple of Duchy feet. Oke kept pushing forward and soon Rueben Bourne replaced the tiring Jacob Jones on the right. Rueben soon creating his own identity. Duchy's second and third came from quick breaks as Oke continued to push forward looking to get back into the game. The final 3-0 score line not really proving a fair reflection of the closeness of the contest and captain, Tim Morgan, praised the team's commitment whilst giving his ultimatum for continued high levels of effort.
