Match Report |
Following their wins in the last two matches, the Okehampton team were full of confidence and keen to build on their winning streak with a welcome return of Rob Yells, Jaden Read, Simon Bourne and George Morgan. Both teams started strongly although Oke were unlucky to lose the pacey Stuart Jarvis almost immediately after the game had started with a hamstring injury. Oke were put under early pressure from the oppositions attack and a number of short corners were awarded. The backs, Jimmy Lewis-Humbert, Tim Morgan and Simon Bourne held strong and thwarted most attacks with Ebby Vallance cooly denying any shots. As the first half went on, the Oke team began to find their form with Toby Lloyd, Jaden Read and Neil Rowlands starting to control the midfield and spreading the ball to the wings Caleb Bourne, Rob Yells and George Morgan. With link up play to the forwards, Jake Lloyd and Chris Luxton, Oke began to create a number of open play chances and short corners which they were unlucky not to convert into goals. The first half finished 0-0 but with Oke on top. The second half started similarly to the first with Oke facing an early phase of pressure although they battled back and soon started to build on their momentum from the end of the first half with a number of attacks being created. Midway into the second half Chris Luxton found himself in space to calmly reverse the ball into the corner of the goal after a measured through ball from Neil Rowlands for a deserved 1-0 lead. Soon after the goal the opposition raised their game and with Jaden Read unluckily picking up a green card, Oke reshuffled their formation with Jake Lloyd stepping into midfield with the away side looking to protect their slender lead. Towards the end of the second half Oke conceded a handful of short corners in quick succession. The backs stood strong with Ebby Vallance making a number of delicious saves when called upon. The final whistle was blown to give the Oke team a crucial 3 away points. A fully deserved result for the Oke Seconds with three wins now on the trot! Lets keep it up chaps!
