Match Report |
Okehampton A travelled to Plymouth to face a mid table Plymouth Marjon D side. The game started with attacking play from both sides. The wings Stuart Jarvis and Caleb Bourne provided a number of opportunities with the link up play to the midfield diamond Jake Lloyd, Toby Lloyd, Neil Rowlands and Rob Yells which they were unlucky not to convert. With end to end hockey the backs Jimmy Lewis-Humbert, Tim Morgan and Tom Hutchins provided a solid defence when called on. Okehampton were unlucky to end the half 1-0 down with a speculative effort from the opposition attack deflecting from an Okehampton player into the goal. Okehampton started the second half keen to make good their unfortunate deficit. Jacob Jones continued his hard work from the first half pressuring the oppositions defence and creating runs with link up play with the midfield. As Okehampton increased the pressure they were awarded a short corner which with a pre-drilled routine, Toby Lloyd cooly slotted into the bottom corner to give the away team a much deserved goal. With the increase in confidence, Okehampton continued to pressure and shortly after scoring their first goal, Stuart Jarvis ran the ball in from the right wing and with a number of deflections from defenders bossed the ball into the back of the goal for a 2-1 lead. Following the goal the home side increased the pressure with Okehampton unlucky to concede another goal. With the score 2-2 and the second half almost over both teams frantically searched for a winning goal with chances at both ends. The final whistle was blown to finish the game 2-2 with Okehampton taking a good point from a team above them in league.
