Match Report | A strong Okehampton A side welcomed Truro B to sunny Devon, with the hope of overturning the result from earlier in the season and gaining some points from the fixture. Okehampton started well with pressure from forwards Stuart Jarvis, Charlie Glanville and Brett Lawson forcing the Truro goalkeeper to make some brilliant saves. The strong Okehampton midfield trapped Truro in their own half, intercepting passes and not allowing their Cornish opposition many chances on goal. As the first half slipped away, Okehampton were awarded a penalty flick following a heavy tackle by the Truro keeper. A sublime save from the opposition keeper denied Oke the opening goal and the halftime score remained 0-0. At the start of the second half, Okehampton continued their pressure with midfielders Nick Luxton and the two Morgans, Tim and George making some wonderful runs and linking up well with their wingers, eventually leading to put Jarvis through on through on goal. He rounded the keeper, but an extraordinary diving save from a Truro defender denied him the goal. This seemed to wake up the Truro side, forcing Okehampton’s defence, including Man of the match Ben Bowles, to make some good tackles and clearances. Eventually, the pressure led to Truro winning a short corner, which they duly despatched in the back of Okehampton’s net. Conceding a goal forced Okehampton to attack again but they were running out of time and the game ended with Truro winning 1-0. |
