Match Report | Okehampton 1st - 1 – Plymouth Marjon 2nd - 3 In the penultimate game of the season Okehampton hosted Marjons, knowing that only a win would do! Captain Sophie Whiteley and Hannah Gibbons were as solid as ever in the centre, both making fantastic runs and providing the forwards with lovely through balls. Okehampton applied a lot of attacking pressure throughout the 1st half, with some great work from Lesley Bingham and Emily Rowlands. There were numerous shots on goal but, despite this, by half time the score remained 0-0. With grazed knees, and glucose sweets, Okehampton were positive going into the second half. Unfortunately, an early goal, enabled Plymouth to gain momentum and despite some awesome goalie action from Alice Wiseman and some incredible defensive play from Abi Coulton, Nicky Pedrick and Laura Parsons, Okehampton found themselves 3-0 down. It wasn’t until late in the second half, after some wonderful passages of play from Rachel Adams, Ellie Shayler and Anna Speak, that Okehampton were able to get on the score board. The team spirt remained high and Okey were finally rewarded with the goal scored by Lesley Bingham. The whole team remained focussed to the end, and deserved more goals, but it just wasn’t their day. |
