Match Report |
Having travelled down to Cornwall Okehampton A knew their opening game of the season wasn't going to be easy. Within the first five minutes Caradon took the lead and it took the young Okehampton side a time to settle into a hostile environment. Okehampton found their composure and Ben Bowles played a cracking ball to Chris Luxton who slotted it to Charlie Glanville who was making a run along the back line, he drew the keeper and tapped it to Will Ash who expertly deflected it into the back corner. Caradon took full advantage of a gift of a short corner to retake the lead. Both teams went into half time feeling that they could do more. Captain Jimmy gave a rousing team talk which spurned his young team to take the game to Caradon. The centre three of Smith, Morgan Snr and Morgan Jnr started to control the pitch and to Caradon's surprise, Okehampton started to control the game and were awarded four short corners in a row which were expertly kept at bay by the young Caradon Keeper. Okehampton's back four of Bowles, Yelland, Jarvis and Gray kept control of the Caradon's forwards which gave skipper Jimmy very little to do in goal. Young Alfie Morgan was duly awarded MOM for his tireless running and at the final whistle Okehampton felt disappointed with the 2-1 outcome but satisfied with the team performance. Next week Okehampton A are at home for a 12 15 start against PGSOB C team
