Match Report

After three consecutive wins, Okehampton went into their away game against Ashmoor, confident in their team and hopeful for the win. As the game began it quickly became apparent that Ashmoor's attack was going to challenge the Oke defence as repeated attacks were made down each wing but were kept at bay by defenders Bowles and Hughes. From a free hit mid-way through the first half Tim Morgan sent the ball up towards Luxton who slotted it across the goal line. Now 1-0 up Okehampton were still wary of the home side who quickly regained control and continued the intense attack but failed to get through Okehampton's midfield of Morgan, Morgan, Glanville and Jones.

At halftime a sterling team talk by Captain Jimmy kept the young away primed to start the second half with the same way they finished the first. The home side continued their attacks with several runs into Okehampton's 'D' but they were stopped from reaching the score board by the defence of Glanville, Bowles, Yelland, Jimmy and some expert saves from keeper Westlake. Pressing forward again, Glanville made an excellent run up the wing and slotted the ball through to Ash to shoot on goal, but after an amazing save from the Ashmoor keeper the score stayed 1-0.

With only five minutes remaining in the match Ashmoor were awarded a short corner which they put into the back of Okehampton's net with a deflection past the keeper. With only a short amount of time remaining Okehampton couldn't find the goal they needed to win the game but they were content with their draw.
