Match Report | Okehampton A travelled down to wet and windy Plymouth to play their last game before the Christmas break against OPM. As the game began the away side realised they weren't in for an easy game as OPM made several attacks in Okehampton's half which were kept at bay by the back four of Jarvis, Yelland, Bowles and Glanville. A quick ball out from Bowles to Jarvis on the wing, and a powerful cross found Ash in the D who slipped the ball to Luxton who smashed it into the back net. Okehampton made more and more attacking runs into the home sides defensive half; they were awarded a short corner which Glanville slotted into the goal making it 2-0 at half time. Happy with their lead, Okehampton were however aware that the home side weren't ready to give up yet. In the opening play of the second half Jarvis received the ball running up the wing who crossed it to Luxton at the top of the D who pushed the score to 3-0 after finding the net with an expert strike. Okehampton's midfield of Hughes, the Morgan's and Jones kept any would be OPM scorers at bay and backed up the attack with several great passes around the back. After a long corner Hughes once again found Luxton in the D who completed his hat-trick and took the score to 4-0. The home side moved the ball swiftly up into Okehampton's half where one of their attackers made his way past the goalie, and hit the ball into the goal. Okehampton replied with another short corner, the ball came out to captain Jimmy who hit it across to Jarvis who chipped it across the goal line restoring Okehamptons 4 goal lead. OPM's responded as their winger crossed the ball across the face of the goal and a diving attacker just managed to slide it into the net making it 5-1. Another Okehampton short corner from Glanville to Luxton at the top of the D who scored once again, finished the game 6-2 in Okehampton's favour. The team can reflect on a successful first half of the season and will be looking to maintain their league position after Christmas |
