Match Report | Okehampton A travelled to Plymouth to play their second game of the latter half the season against PGSOB. Oke fielded a young side, and as the game commenced Okehampton were caught of guard leading to an early goal from PGSOB after they passed it swiftly around Oke keeper Westlake into the goal. undeterred, Oke pushed forwards and the front three of Webber, Ash and Jones forced the home keeper into a a number of good saves. Okehampton were awarded a short corner, the ball was hit out to Bingham whose shot on goal was expertly saved by the PGSOB keeper. The back four of Bowles, Yelland, Jarvis and Rogers helped keep the home side from adding to their goal tally, and pressing forward Jarvis made a run up the centre pitch passing the ball up Ash who made another close strike towards goal. A stirring half time team talk from stand-in captain Morgan, spurred Okehampton on, and they commited numbers in to the attack. The midfield trio of Newman, Glanville and Morgan launched a series of attacks with creating opportunities for the front runners. Against the run of play, a crash ball and unfortunate deflection resulted in one of the PGSOB attackers being through on goal; with Bowles and Yelland hot on his heels he tapped the ball just past the keeper making it 2-0 with only ten minutes left to play. Okehampton had a new surge of energy and were determined to make their mark on the score board. After several incredibly close attempts on goal Okehampton ran out of time and the game ended 2-0 and Will Ash was awarded man of the match. |
