Match Report | Okehampton A were keen to end their season on a high as they prepared for their final game for this year against OPM's B. The game started off well for the home side; forcing play through the middle of the pitch, Glanville moved the ball towards Morgan who crossed to Ash in the D, his neat pass on to Luxton gave him the chance open the scoring. OPM's came back strongly winning a short corner, the initial shot was saved by keeper Westlake by OPM's seized the rebound and crashed it into the net, going into halftime the score was 1-1. As the second half commenced OPM made several more attacking runs which were kept at bay by the defence of Simon Jolley, Ben Yelland, Ben Bowles and Glanville . On the attack again, Smith took a quick free hit to Luxton who crossed it to Ash who unfortunately narrowly missed the target, but shortly after Okehampton were awarded a short corner which Luxton slotted home. As the game continued Okehampton had several more opportunities that were unfortunately not converted until Hughes hit the ball up to Ash who battled his way through the densely populated D to find Morgan Jnr . His shot was half saved, before it crept across the line making it 3-1. As the game neared its end Okehampton continued to apply lots of pressure to OPM with some excellent runs up the pitch; Luxton played a neat 1-2 with Ash then hit the ball straight into the net giving him yet another hatrick and his 30th goal of the season. As the game dwindle away Okehampton secured their 9th win of the season to secure 4th place in the league with 29 points. |
