Match Report | Okehampton 1st team 2 Exe 3 - 4 League leaders Okehampton faced second place Exe 3 at a very wet and windy Okehampton pitch. Exe 3 started strongly and immediately put Okehampton under pressure. Defenders Helen Dalton, Sophie Mugliston, Laura Parsons and Amanda Sim held Exe off initially but an interception from Exe resulted in an early goal for the away side. Okehampton came back and built their attack with passing between Sophie Whiteley and Lucy Wiseman to give the forwards a few chances but the Exe keeper was strong and assertive. Exe used their possession well and the ball found a high forward who slotted it past the Okehampton keeper. Clever passing by Exe in the Okehampton D meant that they scored again before half time. After half time, Okehampton restarted strongly and both teams had their share of attacking play. Excellent play between forwards Emily Rowlands, Hannah Whiteley and Rochelle Woollacott resulted in a first goal for Okehampton. Keeper Jennie Humphry made excellent saves from aerial shots unfortunately Exe were able to convert a short corner. Okehampton replied immediately with a run from Nicky Strawbridge resulting in an excellent goal. Okehampton continued to attack well but ran out of time to turn over the deficit with the final score 4-2 to Exe 3s. Okehampton retain their position at the top of the league with 3 games to go.
