Match Report | Okehampton faced a developing Torbay side hoping to continue their fine run of form. The game started at brisk pace with winger Stuart Jarvis causing the Torbay defence a torrid time with his blistering pace. The 1st goal came from an incisive pass from Alfie Morgan into the D to find Ash, who not phased by the towering Torbay keeper, cooly slotted the ball into the goal. Rising to the physical challenge set by Torbay the young Okehampton players started to dominate the key areas of the pitch with Benjamin Rogers stopping any attacks down the right hand side and effortlessly turning the breakdowns into attacks for his team. The lead was soon increased with both Hughes and Jones finding the net and before half time Ash bagged this second. A positional change at half time soon paid dividends with Billy Jecks creating chances to increase the score line. Jones pounced on a loose ball in the goal area and increased the score to 5. As the game opened up, the inspiring Okehampton youngsters had room to show off their talents. A well worked short corner saw Hughes bag his second of the game, and as the final whistle drew close L-Humbert added to the score. An impressive performance from the young second team players, which sees them rise to 3rd in the league table. Next week, the team travels to play Plymouth University B team |
