Match Report | Okehampton travelled to play Plymouth University B with high hopes of another win to extend their winning streak. However, Plymouth started strongly attacking with some dangerous runs down the field and taking an early lead. Undeterred by the early setback Oke’s forwards, Hughes, Jones and Jecks, upped the tempo trying to force an equaliser. They worked hard and when Jolley joined the fray Hughes popped up to score the goal equalising the score. Boosted by this Okehampton worked well together pressing forward, with the midfield of Morgan and Morgan stopping any attacking threats. Tim Morgan scored Oke’s second, and continued Oke pressure forced Plymouth to make mistakes and concede a short corner. Jones scored quickly followed by another from Hughes. Jecks and Alfie Morgan added to the Oke score before half time. The Uni team started the second half started with renewed enthusiasm trying to force the play to get back into the game, but the Oke defence of Newman, Bowles Rodgers and the experienced Jarvis proved a difficult defence to breach. Oke withstood the pressure and started to rebuild their attacking threat and once again started to dominate the play and dictate the game. Tim Morgan got his second goal closely followed by Jones who also found the back of the net. With the final score-line being 8-1, Okehampton went home satisfied and are able to look forward to next week’s home encounter with Caradon; 12.15pm at the College. |
