Match Report | Okehampton A travelled to Plymouth, for a top of the table clash with PGSOB C looking for points to stay at the top. Okehampton started well with a string of passes through the midfield creating opportunities for the front three. Eventually, a through ball from Morgan led to an Okehampton short corner. Goal scoring machine Neil Rowlands then calmly found the backboard, putting Okehampton 1-0 up. PGSOB responded posititvely, but their attempts were thwarted by the solid Okehampton defence, and returning keeper Jacob Jones was on good form. PG’s levelled the score with a short corner of their own before halftime. A rousing team talk saw Okehampton come out strongly with the forward duo of Jecks and Ash causing the PGSOB defence problems. The strength of the PG’s forwards overpowered the Oke defence and they bundled the ball over the line to take the lead. Okehampton coped well with the sustained pressure for most of the second half, with Newman cutting out multiple passes down the left and Bowles stopping a short corner on the line. Somewhat against the run of play, Okehampton broke through, with Hughes playing a ball through to Ben Jones, who tapped the ball into the goal to even up the score. Okehampton pushed for a winning goal but eventually ran out of time, and the match ended 2-2, meaning that they stay top of the league heading into next week’s match at home against Duchy B. |
