Match Report | Okehampton A travelled up to Exeter for their match against East Devon Right from the start the attacking three of Ash, Hughes and Glanville applied pressure to the opposition’s back line, and Ash received a cross from Glanville and calmly put it in the back of the goal, in reply East Devon broke through the solid defence and managed to sneak an equaliser. Okehampton fought back with Luxton, making a long awaited return from injury, slotting in number two, but Okehampton were caught out as East Devon equalised before half time. An inspirational team talk from captain Rowlands, meant Okehampton were ready to dominate the next half and upped the tempo; Hughes found himself in the D with a ball from Jones and made a great connection with the ball to take Oke back into the lead. The Okehampton defence of Bowles, Rogers, Jarvis and Bingham still had a lot of work to do, blocking all the balls making it into the D. Okehampton used their subs to their full advantage, using the lightning pace of Watson to create mayhem in the East Devon defence with some probing runs up the pitch, and taking advantage of the width that Jolley and Jones found out on the wings. Penalty flicks were awarded for both teams but sadly Okehampton’s promising young keeperr, Yelland just missed getting a foot to the ball. This didn't faze Okehampton and Glanville’s shot made the final score 5- 3. Okehampton are looking forward to their Christmas break sitting on top of the table.
