Match Report | Okehampton Men's second team faced PGSOB C on their home turf on Saturday; they started strongly with Ash, Hughes and Jones creating a number of attacking opportunities which weren’t converted. As the game progressed, PG’s began to build their own attacks, but the Okehampton midfield of Rowlands, Smith and Glanville held the middle of the pitch well ably supported by the Morgans. The game went into a period of stalemate as neither team were able to gain the ascendency. As the half progressed, Okehampton began to create chances again and were unfortunate not to take the lead shortly before half time after a goalmouth melee resulted in PG’s keeper scrambling the ball away. Both teams raised the tempo in the second half producing some entertaining hockey, and Oke produced some excellent build up play, but once in the D they were unable to convert. As the frustration grew the 0-0 draw looked increasingly likely and try as they might neither team could score the winner. On Sunday the side travelled to Liskeard to play Caradon A in a game re-scheduled game following storm ‘Dennis’. Despite the disappointment of the draw on Saturday the young Oke side raised their game, and needing the points to maintain their position near the top of the table they regained their winning form. Goals from Jones and Hughes sealed the 1-2 victory for the visitors. Next week, the 2’s travel to play Duchy B. |
