Match Report | ISCA & Exeter Uni 5ths -2 Okehampton ladies 1sts - 1
Okehampton ladies first team came out strong, winning the toss and getting off to a great start with a shot from the edge of D from Amy Taylor, and finding the back of Isca and Exeter 5th's goal. Okehampton stayed strong with some great passing play, driving up the wings and many attempts on goal. Exeter were awarded a free hit outside oke’s defensive D which slipped past the defence. Nikki Strawbridge played determinedly and was denied several attempts at goal. Driving it up the pitch and foiling exeter’s defence, but was unlucky to not find the backboard. Okehampton’s defence was strong and well positioned and kept under control by Ella Kaye in goal. Emilia Bazely and Nikki Pedrick holding off lose balls from Exeter. At half time the score was 1-1, both teams came out ready to attack. Unfortunately, Exeter managed to slip through our defence and slipped a ball into the Okehampton net. Kim McGratton did some strong hits into the D, with the forwards Lesley Bingham, Claire Grubb and Molly Petheridge trying to get them in, but exeter defence held them off. Oke’s midfield was strong and Elly Jenkins (player of the match) held off many of Exeter's advances and helped to keep the ball in the attacking D. Lucy Wiseman and Sophie Whiteley were instrumental in keeping the ball moving and holding possession. Okehampton played right to the end whistle, and were denied a final shot on goal as time ran out. Meaning a final score of 2-1. Next week okehamtpon 1st team host Duchy at Okehampton college, 2pm.
