Okehampton A had a home fixture against Duchy B this week at the college. Oke seized the initiative from the starting whistle and soon had the Duchy defence under pressure
With some long probing passes to the wingers from defence, Oke moved methodically towards the D where Alfie Morgan was eager to open the scoring. Some promising attacks came to nothing, but it was inevitable that a goal would come soon. Oke pressed Duchy at every opportunity and kept hold of the ball with simple passing around the back and midfield. As the midfield controlled the game Stuart Jarvis went sprinting down the wing to receive the ball, his clever play released the ball to the top of the D; receiving the ball back, he smashed it in to the backboards to open the scoring.
With their tails up, Oke forced the Duchy defence in to conceding a penalty corner; the initial shot was well saved, but Hall followed up the rebound and, taking advantage of some confusion in the Duchy defence, his shot trickled over the line to enable Oke to take a 2-0 lead into half-time. wiping him out.
A slight reorganisation at half time encouraged the Oke wingers to play wider creating more space in the Duchy defence.
