Match Report | After a month off due to lockdown and new travel restrictions meaning all players had to travel separately, Okehampton A had an unusual re-start to their league season with a trip to play Tavistock. None the less, Okehampton soon found their structure and started dominating play with their front three of Smith, Luxton, Ash putting pressure on the home defence. The Oke midfield set of Rowlands and Morgans cut out Tavistock’s probing runs and hindered them form creating opportunities to attack. Oke’s persistence in attack paid off as a cross came in and deflected off the goal-keeper allowed Alfie Morgan to sweep the ball into the bottom corner. Tavistock came back strong as the half progressed but they were kept at bay by the Oke defence of Thomas, Howard, du Prè and Yelland. There was no further score before half time. Keen to keep their lead, Okehampton held the ball well and once again controlled the play and their determination reaped reward in the form of a short corner; The strong shot was well saved by the home keeper who made another exceptional save from Morgan following good work from Luxton in the wide channel. This seemed to reinvigorate the home team and they pushed forward searching for an equaliser. Oke conceded penalty corners, but their defence held firm and they kept their goal intact. Tavi continued to push for a goal and eventually they did equalise. Next week Okehampton are scheduled to travel to play Torbay |
