Match Report | The final game of 2021 saw Okehampton2’s hosting Truro 4’s. The game started with Okehampton piling the pressure on but sadly all opening shots went wide of the target. Truro were quick on the counter attack and scored their opening goal from a penalty corner. Okehampton kept their heads and got straight back into the game with some excellent play through the middle from Morgan and Priday until the equaliser came from Luxton. The youthful but talented bench of Woodward, Nesbit and Bower helped keep the pressure up on the visitors and eventually the home side went 2-1 up through an excellent goal from Ash. The second half saw end to end play and an excellent attack down the wing from Bonnet and accurate passing to the top of the D allowed Luxton to claim his second goal. This proved to be a catalyst for the Cornishmen and the tempo of the game increased rapidly resulting in two quick goals to bring the scores level. Okehampton were the dominant team in the dying minutes of the game and created lots of chances deep inside the Truro half. A last second shot on goal went wide and the final whistle was blown to draw the match at 3 a piece. Games will resume for the second team with an away trip to Falmouth on the 8th January |
